Orange Cake

I love to bake. And when it comes to try something new, I am always ready! I learned this recipe from youtube and tried it on my friend’s graduation party. And it comes out really well. I really recommend to try this cake.

Ingredients

All purpose flour – 1 + 1/2 cup
Baking soda – 1/2 tsp
Baking powder – 1 + 1/2 tsp
Fresh curd – 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar – 3/4 cup
Oil – 1/2 cup
Fresh orange – 3 large

For Orange Icing
Heavy whipping cream – 1 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar – 1/2 cup
Orange zest – 1 tsp
Orange essence – 1/2 tsp (optional)

Method

Sieve 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1 1/2 tsp baking powder together and keep it aside.

In another mixing bowl, take 1/2 cup fresh curd and and 3/4 cup sugar together and whisk it for 2 minutes.

Add 1/2 cup of oil and mix it well. Now take 3 large orange and grate the outer layer of the orange and get the zest. (Make sure that you do not grate the white part of the orange). Take out juice of those oranges. Mix these orange zest and juice with the other wet ingredients.

 

Now slowly add dry ingredients. Fold in the mixture and pour in the prepared mold. Preheat the oven on 350°F/ 180°C . Bake the cake on 350°F/ 180°C for 35 minutes.

 

Check after 25 minutes with the skewer or knife .(It should come out clean when pierced in the cake). Let the cake cool down completely. Move the knife/skewer around the edges of the cake and unmold it.

 


Now, to prepare the icing, Mix whipping cream, powdered sugar and orange zest in a mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer, start whisking it on medium speed for 3 minutes or until u get thick and firm cream.

 


Decorate your cake as per your choice!
