Oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 2 tsp
Asafoetida – pinch
Curry leaves – 6 to 7
Peanuts – 1/4 cup
Green chillies – 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Onion – 1 medium (chopped)
Potato – 1 large (chopped)
Paua – 2 cups (Flattened rice)
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Salt – 1 tsp
Lemon juice – half lemon
Few coriander leaves – for garnishing

Rinse paua in running water and keep aside for 10 minutes. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add 2 tsp mustard seeds, 2 tsp cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and 1/4 cup peanuts. Roast it for 2-3 minutes. Add chopped green chillies and chopped potatoes. Allow it to cook for 3-4 minutes. (Note: Potato takes longer time to cook. So put potato first and then onions. Oil must be enough otherwise potato will burn out soon.)

Add chopped onion. Cover the pan with lid and cook it for 3-4 minutes until potatoes get cooked. Check on the potatoes by pressing it with the spatula.

Now, Add soaked paua , 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp sugar , 1 tsp salt and a lime juice. Mix it very well. (Note: At a time of adding soaked paua, if you feel paua is dry then sprinkle little bit of water on the top). Put chopped coriander leaves on the top and serve hot!

And all time favorite indian breakfast is ready!! 🙂
