Ingredients

Oil – 1.5 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – pinch
Curry leaves – 6 to 7
Peanuts – 1/4 cup
Garlic-ginger-green chilli paste – 1 tbsp
Onion – 1 medium (chopped)
Tomato – 2 (chopped)
Green peas – 1/2 cupturmeric powder
Vermicelli – 1.5 cup
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Salt – 1 tsp
Water – 3/4 cup
Few coriander leaves – for garnishing

Method

Dry roast the vermicelli. Once it is golden brown, allow it to cool down a bit.Heat 1.5 tbsp oil in a pan and add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and 1/4 cup peanuts. Roast it for 2-3 minutes. Add 1 tbsp ginger-garlic- chilli paste, chopped onion, finely chopped de-seeded tomatoes, 1/2 cup green peas. Cook them all for 3-4 minutes.

Cook it for few seconds and later add the vermicelli. Add 1 tsp red chilli powder , 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp  salt and 1 tbsp sugar. Mix well and add 3/4 cup of warm water. Cover it and let it cook for 5 minutes.

Add coriander leaves and Upma is ready to serve! 🙂
