Corn ( boiled and crushed) Makai – 2 cups
Oil/Ghee – 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
Green chillies – 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Tomato – 1 large (chopped)
Onion – 1 large (chopped) or 2 medium
Turmeric Powder – 2 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tbsp
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Salt – 2 tsp
Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup
Garlic paste – 1 tbsp (garlic + red chilli powder)
Peel off the corn and boil it. Crush it in a mixer and keep that aside. Heat the oil in a pan. Once hot add 1 tsp mustard seeds , 1 tbsp cumin seeds and 1/2 tsp asafoetida. Let them sizzle. Add finely chopped onions and 1 tbsp green chillies. Let it cook for another 5 minutes.
Add all dry spices like 2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp garam masala, 2 tsp salt , 1 tbsp sugar and 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and cook it for another 2 minutes.
Add finely chopped tomatoes, mix well and cook it for 2-3 minutes. Add crushed corn and cook it well for 10 minutes. Add garlic paste. ( Here i have mixed equal amount of garlic with red chilli powder for making garlic paste.)Cook it for 2-3 minutes and turn off the heat.
And delicious Makai Bhartha is ready to be served! 🙂 Serve it with parathas/ roti.
