Coconut (grated) or Desiccated coconut (coconut powder) – 1 cup

Black gram(Urad Dal) – 2 tsp
Mustard seeds (rai) – 2 tsp
Curry leaves – 10-15

Add all the ingredients- coconut , green chillis, chana dal, sugar ,salt , coriander leaves together and grind it into smooth paste. (Generally people don’t use coriander leaves in this chutney, but i like its color and taste)

Heat oil in a small pan. Add the urad dal and fry till it becomes brown. Add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add curry leaves and asafoetida.

Fry for a minute. Immediately pour the tempering on the coconut chutney.

Mix it well with the coconut chutney before serving it. And your chutney is ready 🙂
