Thick paua – 4 cups
Oil – 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 2 tsp
Sesame seeds – 2 tsp
Peanuts (sing) – 15-20
Curry leaves – 10-12
Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tbsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tbsp
Sugar – 2 tbsp
Salt – 2 tsp


Dry roast the paua in a large pan if it is not crispy.

Heat the oil in a wide pan. Add mustard seeds. As mustard seeds crack, add asafoetida, curry leaves, peanuts, sesame seeds and curry leaves. As a precaution cover the pan immediately for few seconds because as you add curry leaves to oil it will splatter.

Add paua and all dry masalas like red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and sugar. Mix it very well.

And all time favorite paua chevda is ready!! 🙂
